Where can I find cooking classes in Orange County, CA area?

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

My 10 year old niece wants to learn how to cook and I wanted to find some place where her and I could take cooking classes together. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I took some "cooking" classes at Mr. Stox in Anaheim, but I think they just have participation dinners now. However, they’re quite pricey (about $110 each), so not appropriate for a child – but they’re a WONDERFUL way to spend an evening with your husband! Check out their website! … It’s my very favorite restaurant:)

Where can I take cooking classes in the Sacramento area?

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

I’m not looking to become a professional chef, I just enjoy cooking and baking. I’m especially interested in baking classes.

A lot of junior colleges offer cooking classes. Also look at your local recreation center, there might be courses available there as well. I don’t know of any specific locations, but that’s where I would start looking.
You can take cake decorating classes at craft stores and a great book to teach yourself to bake is Sherri Yard’s "The Secrets of Baking" It’s a super book with excellent recipes and good explanations. If you’re more into bread than cakes/cookies/pastries, my favorite bread book is The Bread Bible by Rose Levy-Berenbaum.
I’m currently attending pastry school, but before I decided to go and make it my career, those are the books I used to teach myself how to bake. Be sure to read a lot (public libraries are great places to read cookbooks, as well as the internet) and practice tons.

where can i look for some not so expensive cooking classes?

Friday, July 30th, 2010

I need to learn how to cook….is there a website online that can help? or any cheap cooking classes? any suggestions are appreciated. im all ears =) thanks!
i live in pa

where I live (NC) we have continuing education classes offered at community colleges, they are cheap and short lived. Some are only one day and others maybe 5 days over the course of a month and a half. Some supermarkets have workshops too.
I would suggest going to a class or cooking with someone who knows how to cook because it is so much easier than a website or a book. Starting with that method will require much trial and error. Once you get some basic techniques down, a book or website will be much more useful.
Good luck, cooking is fun : )
